Mission & Values

Our Mission

LOVE GOD. LOVE OTHERS. MAKE DISCIPLES.

Our mission is what we do – the call to action we believe Christ has placed on His church. This mission is the goal of every decision we make and is borne out of two moments in the gospel of Matthew where Jesus summarizes the driving heartbeats of a follower of Christ: The Great Commandment and The Great Commission. The first is found in Matthew 22:36-40, a conversation between Jesus and a lawyer:

“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” (ESV)

The other is in Matthew 28:19-20, the final command that Jesus gives His followers just before ascending into Heaven:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (ESV)

Our Vision

vision

To see an authentic gospel movement emerge in Henderson County that is carried to the ends of the earth.

Our vision is what we aim to see – what we believe God will do as we carry out our mission. This gospel movement is not just our desire, but what we believe is the natural manifestation and outcome of disciples being made. Disciples who make disciples. Disciples who love God, love each other, and love our world.

A true understanding of the Gospel changes everything, and if we really do help the people of our community to understand the good news of Jesus, we know that God will transform lives. And the more people who understand this – that a relationship with God is not based on what we’ve done, but on what has been done for us in Christ; that our lives are not for our own glory, but for the glory of God; that the gospel is not just the front door to the Christian life, but is the house in which the believer dwells – the more people we will see living on mission both here and around the world.

Our Values help determine our “F-U-T-U-R-E”

FERVENT PRAYER
Prayer is the catalyst for the church’s movement. God moves in response to our united and personal prayer.
(Philippians 4:6 | Colossians 4:2 | 1 John 5:14 | 2 Chronicles 7:14)

UNWAVERING FAITH
We are big thinking, big risk-takers for God – not because we are careless, but because we are faith-filled.
(1 Chronicles 28:20 | Matthew 25:22-26)

TOTAL DEPENDENCE
All ministry that is effective must be empowered by the Holy Spirit.
(Acts 1:8 | Zechariah 4:6 | John 14:26 | Romans 8:26-28)

UNBREAKABLE UNITY
We are a family. God made the church to build up one another and to live in perfect unity. This proves to the world that God sent Jesus and we are His disciples.
(Hebrews 10:24-25 | John 17:23 | John 13:34-35)

RADICAL SERVICE
We will generously serve the community in the name of Jesus, using the talents and resources God has given us.
(1 John 3:17 | Philippians 2:3-4)

EXTREME SACRIFICE
We give up the things we love for the things we love more. It’s the least we can do for Christ and His church.
(Matthew 6:21 | Luke 9:23-25 | 2 Corinthians 9:6-7)
